I'm absolutely terrible. I haven't updated in FOREVER... again. I THOUGHT I would get a break between winter semester and spring semester, because, you know, I only have 2 more friggen classes to take until I am officially DONE with my philosophy degree and applying for law schools, but apparently that's not how the University of Michigan works. And apparently it turns out I need STATS 350 to graduate.
Which is fine, right, because, "Maria, but, but Ugg-wearing sorostitutes take STATS 350 for their math credit, and they usually fail ENG 101!" However, you must be aware of the fact that because of her philosophy degree, Maria has not been required to take a math class of ANY sort since junior year of high school, and 5 years spent only doing enough math to make change for customers at Potbelly when the registers are broken is not nearly enough to count as any sort of real math... ever. Plus I need to get at least an A- in this course to bring my GPA up from a 3.4 to a 3.5. Thankfully, I've been kicking my own butt and have gotten an A- on the first exam, which, with the first quiz score thrown in, means that so far, I have an A- in the course overall.
But I'm scared I won't do well because it's only getting harder. That's what she said.
However, I HAVE found some time to write my Janto fic (after not posting a chapter for 4 months) and did go to Stratford with Mom, Cappie, Liz, and Jade without exploding from stress about my courses, which was a near thing.
THINGS TO DO:
1. Get an A- in STATS 350, because I've totally got COMPLIT 122 in the bag.
2. FINALLY make a post about the trip to the Creation Museum.
3. Make a post about the trip to Stratford and how fabulous the Importance of Being Ernest was. (Lady Bracknell played by Brian Bedford, FTW)
4. I've been debating whether I should do this for a while, and it seems I should Get With The Times and finally create a writing journal, because I never post my fic to my personal journal (that's here), fanfic.net is woefully inadequate at being awesome, and much of my fic is scattered through the comms like so many leaves in the wind.
So within the next couple of months, I shall compile all my many fandoms and writings onto one livejournal after editing them. Though the older fic, I think I'll post but not bother with the editing. Especially my RENT fic. God, it makes me depressed to read Dying By Surviving. But I'm sure I'll go back and read Revelations in a couple years and feel the same way. There's a time-stamp on how good I feel about my writing, it seems, because I'm not really sure if I'm getting any better. *sigh* Though why I take FANFICTION so seriously, of all things, I'll never know.
5. Clean my apartment. Buy groceries. Do laundry. This really shouldn't be at the bottom of the list.
Additionally, Jenny is the best older sister ever, because for my graduation present, she CROCHETED ME A IANTO. zomg.

It's a perfect likeness!
Ianto!doll always seems to be looking to the left inquiringly.

Ianto!doll is depressed by his dead robot girlfriend and his jaded immortal lover.

Ianto!doll is sometimes afraid of aliens who disrupt carefully planned-out schedules.

Ianto!doll is shocked at your lack of class or propriety. You fail.

Ianto!doll does not like it when you drink coffee he has not made. Ianto!doll disapproves of corporate coffee shops. They brew crap and the baristas don't know what the eff they're doing.

Ianto!doll can fly and make airplane noises.
Additionally, I would like to say that he has CUFFLINKS. And his suit coat buttons and unbuttons. But I can't take his pants off. :(

Comments
I can't wait until September.
Take Care!
Ianto!doll is offended when I try to take his pants off because they are sewed on. He is very chaste. But I'm sure when my big sister makes me a Jack!doll for my birthday, he will change his tune. :D

2. The fic is great :-)
3. IANTO!DOLL
4. Lily Allen is my new heroin, I LOVE HER!!
5. you know you only wish you could be as dorky as me ;-)
I'm sure you'll rock stats! I had to take stats as well in college and it wasn't too bad. I could hardly understand my teacher, but it all worked out in the end.
Also, I haven't seen Torchwood so I'm not that familiar with Ianto, but the pictures of Ianto!doll are absolutely hysterical.
Also also, your fic is awesome and I await your fic journal with great anticipation. :)
Which law schools are you looking at?
YOU NEEEED TO SEE TORCHWOOD! Picture British men in black based in Wales and the Doctor Who universe (which you honestly don't have to be familiar with to watch Torchwood. It gives a little context, but I wasn't familiar with Doctor Who when I started watching Torchwood and it didn't really mess me up except for Episode 4 season 1 a bit... which my big sister tells me I only didn't get because I'm dumb.) It is CAMPY, and FABULOUS, and PITHY, and SEXY, and it has CANON SLASH *points to icon*. Honestly. Nothing is more amazing. If it wasn't for stats, Torchwood would be my number one thang right now.
*g* I hope the fic journal will meet all of your expectations.
As far as law schools, I've kind of been one of those people with blinkers on, like "I must go to UofM law or ACLU or I will kill myself." But I SUPPOSE I can always go to State. *sigh*
UofM law! That's an awesome goal! You are certainly brilliant enough to get in there. But if you don't, it's not the end of the world as there are many other excellent law schools out there. :)
However, the beauty of Torchwood is that you can boast "My fandom doesn't need photoshop" and ADDITIONALLY, season 3 is coming out in July, and according to the director and the actors, not only is the Jack/Ianto slashy-goodness relationship visible, it's integral to the plot. After living in a world of subtext, Torchwood is wonderfully refreshing. :D
The whole goal of UM law has a few hitches. I talked to my pre-law advisor who says that the mean gpa is 3.7(which I so don't have), and my extra curriculars are a bit lacking these past two years and I NEED to get recommendation letters from professors who haven't spoken/had a class with me in over a semester. ^_^; However, if I get a kick-ass score on the LSAT, I figure that even with a GPA of 3.4, UM law will be more willing to appreciate a Philosophy undergrad degree from their own university since the philosophy program at UM is 4th in the world. But THEN I have to figure out my gpa for my program, which is NOT as good as my overall gpa and ... *sighs* I'll figure it out. Thanks for the encouragement! And you're right, it won't be the end of the world if I don't get in.
And now, I REALLY appreciate the Ianto doll. It's so awesome. I want one. :(
:( Meh. I'm starting to accept it. And it's only taken 3 days of obsession and sobbing, so I will hopefully be over it by the end of the week.
I'm actually now starting to watch Doctor Who because I'm craving more of Jack and want to see some of the backstory behind Jack and Torchwood.
So please don't feel guilty, at least not about introducing me to it. ♥ Hell, it inspired me to write my first fan fiction story, ever. :D
And yeah, I went through the whole "Getting to know Jack's backstory and watch all of Who" phase as well. Wait until you meet the Master. He's fab. And evil. But mostly fab.
I'm currently watching 1x06 "Dalek" and it's totally making me flash back to being like 5 years old and watching the old Doctor Who with my dad. Good times. The Daleks are so evil.
I need more sparkles. That's why Ianto has to come back.
